Fireworks Suspected in New Year's Day Paramus House Fire

PARAMUS, NJ – Just before 2 a.m. on January 1st, Paramus fire companies responded to a structure fire at 33 Spring Valley Rd. The fire, which started on the back porch of the home, was heavily involved and began extending to all floors of the residence.
Flames vented through the roof of the home at the height of the blaze. Exterior lines were put into operation to knock down the heavy fire.
Mutual aid responders included firefighters from Maywood, Rochelle Park, Oradell, and Saddle Brook, who assisted on the scene, while companies from Elmwood Park, Fair Lawn, River Edge, Garfield, and Washington Township provided town coverage.
No injuries were reported. A preliminary report from the fire investigation indicates that fireworks may have been the cause of the blaze.
