Hudson, N.Y. — October 24 — The Hudson Fire Department received its new Rescue Engine 27-42, a 2026 E-ONE Typhoon, and started training firefighters on the vehicle before it becomes fully operational.
The new unit includes space for eight firefighters and is equipped with a Cummins X12 engine that provides 525 horsepower.
It has a Waterous CSU2000 single-stage pump, which can pump 2,250 gallons of water per minute, and is supplied by a 780-gallon poly tank.
The apparatus includes a Wil-Burt light tower, a front trash line, two 2-inch crosslays, two rear preconnects, and two rear hose beds for extended hose lengths. It also has 1,000 feet of 5-inch supply hose to assist with water delivery during firefighting operations.
Rescue tools on board include Holmatro battery-powered extrication tools, an air bag lifting system, heavy-duty rescue struts, and FAST/RIT equipment. Firefighters also have access to a STIHL K-12 chainsaw, additional hand and power tools.
Department personnel began training to become familiar with the equipment, layout, and operating systems of the new unit before it enters service.
This training ensures that crews are prepared to use the new equipment safely and effectively during emergencies.
The department, based at 77 North Seventh Street in Hudson, is continuing to prepare the new rescue engine for regular operational use.
