Endicott, N.Y. — October 26, 2026 — Platoon 4 dispatched six firefighters to a reported truck fire with entrapment risks at the North Street and Loder Avenue intersection in Endicott. The dispatch occurred at 3.16 p.m. Quint 25 and Squad 25 arrived to assist, working alongside the Endicott Police Department and Union Volunteer Emergency Squad.

During the response, police reported an active fire visible to arriving units, with smoke present. Fire crews got to the scene about four minutes after being dispatched and were told no one was inside the vehicle. Firefighters confirmed rapidly that no one was trapped.

When they arrived, firefighters saw a fire burning in the engine area, but it had not spread to the passenger area. Firefighters stretched a hose line and quickly extinguished the fire, preventing further spread into the cab.

No injuries were reported, and no occupants were found trapped in the vehicle.

The response involved coordination between police, fire and emergency medical personnel. Early information from officers helped alert incoming firefighters to the working fire and the initial concern about possible entrapment.

With six firefighters on duty, the crew was able to reach the scene quickly and begin suppression operations. Vehicle fires can develop rapidly, particularly when flames involve the engine compartment, making early fire attack and confirmation of occupant status important priorities for responding crews.

The incident highlights the importance of prompt dispatch, clear communications and coordinated operations when responding to vehicle fires with a potential rescue component.
