Beacon, N.Y. — October 8 — Dutchess Junction Fire Co.provided mutual aid to Garrison on October 8 to assist with firefighting efforts at a barn fire located along Old Albany Post Road.
Tanker 37-37 was sent out at 7:53 p.m. to support the Garrison Volunteer Fire Company. Upon arriving at the scene, Dutchess Junction Fire Co. members helped the North Highlands Engine Company No.1 by supplying water to its engine, which had already laid out hose lines to the barn.
The tanker played a vital role in supporting the fire attack. It carried 2,500 gallons of water, which was completely used during the operation. Providing a steady water supply is essential during firefighting, especially in situations where additional resources are needed to keep the water flowing for suppression efforts.
Local reports described intense fire conditions and a multi-agency response, with mutual aid tankers called in to help maintain a continuous water supply. Multiple local departments contributed support to Garrison during the incident.
Once the task was completed, Tanker 37-37 was released by Garrison command. Dutchess Junction Fire Co.returned to normal service at 10:27 p.m.
This response demonstrated the importance of mutual aid in assisting local departments during structure fires. Tanker companies offer a critical resource by transporting water to the scene and ensuring that engines operating at the fireground have a reliable water supply.
Dutchess Junction Fire Co., based at 75 Slocum Road in Beacon, serves its community and provides assistance to neighboring agencies when more resources are required.
