Plattsburgh, N.Y. — October 26 — The District No.3 Fire Department held an in-service training session on Monday, October 26, focusing on hydrant operations, pump procedures, foam operations, and familiarization with Heavy Rescue 356.

During the session, firefighters had the chance to review important firefighting techniques and deepen their understanding of the department’s equipment. Hydrant and pump operations are crucial for ensuring a steady water supply during fire incidents. Firefighters need to know how to connect to hydrants, operate pumps, and manage water flow to support those fighting fires.

The training also covered foam operations, which are used in situations involving flammable liquids and other specific fire hazards. This helps firefighters learn how to use the necessary equipment and follow proper procedures to apply foam safely and effectively when needed.

Members also reviewed Heavy Rescue 356, becoming more familiar with the apparatus and its tools.

Being aware of where tools are stored and how different equipment functions can help crews respond more efficiently in emergencies.

Engine 353 was tested during the session and performed well, as noted in the department’s report. Routine checks and regular training help firefighters stay comfortable with their equipment and spot any potential issues that need fixing.

The District No. 3 Fire Department, located at 128 Wallace Hill Road in Plattsburgh, serves the local community and ensures preparedness through continuous training. These in-service sessions help reinforce essential skills, equipment knowledge, and safe practices for effective emergency response.
