Cadyville, N.Y. — October 8 — The Cadyville Fire Department invited Pre-K and kindergarten students from Cadyville Elementary School for a visit during Fire Prevention Week, which aimed to educate the children on fire safety and promote community engagement.

This visit allowed young students to interact with local firefighters and learn about the importance of preventing fires.

Firefighters and school staff worked together to ensure the event was both fun and informative for the children, highlighting the value of early safety education in helping families prepare for emergencies.

Cadyville Elementary School is part of the Saranac Central School District, which serves the local community. These school visits offer firefighters a chance to introduce fire safety to young children at an early age and create a sense of familiarity with emergency services.

Fire safety education for young children typically includes topics such as recognizing smoke alarms, identifying safe exits, avoiding matches and lighters, and knowing what to do when a smoke alarm sounds. It also encourages families to create a home escape plan and practice it regularly.

Fire Prevention Week takes place every October and gives fire departments a chance to share important safety information with schools and residents. These visits help build stronger relationships between emergency responders, educators, and the communities they support.

The Cadyville Fire Department, located at 2122 State Route 3 in Cadyville, continued its efforts in community outreach through this school visit, expressing gratitude to the staff who collaborated with the district’s youngest students to ensure the event was a success.
