On September 25, 2026, B Shift personnel from Merrimack Fire Rescue participated in the exercise at a local fire station in Merrimack, New Hampshire. The scenario involved an unresponsive patient positioned above ground level, requiring firefighters to establish a rope system and safely lower the simulated victim.
Crews practiced rope rigging, mechanical advantage systems, patient packaging and controlled lowering procedures. The training also emphasized communication, equipment familiarity and coordination among personnel during technical rescue operations.
The exercise was conducted ahead of the fall hunting season, when responders may encounter emergencies involving elevated tree stands in wooded or remote areas. No outside departments were identified as participants in the reported training.
