— September 24, 2026 — On Thursday, the New York City Fire Department hosted a promotion ceremony at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island to honor firefighters advancing into leadership roles and higher ranks.
FDNY Chief of Department Department John Esposito told the newly promoted members that true leadership extends beyond simply holding a rank or title. He stressed that officers are responsible for preparing their crews for every tour and making sure each member comes home safely.
