Willowvale, NY - Firefighters with the Willowvale Fire Company put heavy-duty hydraulic tools to the test Monday night, completing the second phase of an intensive auto extrication series by stripping the roof entirely from a training vehicle in Oneida County.

Following up on foundational stabilization and glass-management sessions from earlier in the month, company members gathered on September 14 to advance directly into live mechanical cutting and patient access operations. Firefighters operated industrial-grade cutters, spreaders, and reciprocating saws, practicing precise tool placement, safe body positioning, and seamless communication while handling high-power rescue machinery.

Emphasizing crew resource management under simulated emergency conditions, teams worked systematically through the full extrication sequence. The practical training culminated in the successful removal of the vehicle's entire roof structure, opening a large access portal designed to mirror the conditions required for the rapid extraction of a trapped motorist.
