Ansonia Firefighters Participated in Live-Fire Training

Ansonia, CT — August 29 — Firefighters from the Ansonia Fire Department and their mutual aid partners took part in live-fire training on Saturday at the New Haven Fire Academy. The session on August 29 allowed firefighters to practice structural fire skills in a controlled environment.

During the training, crews worked with firefighters from other departments, giving them the opportunity to practice operations that required effective communication, teamwork, and adherence to standard fireground procedures.

This multi-department training also helped different agencies get to know how each other’s crews operate, which is valuable when they need to work together during an emergency.

The training took place at the New Haven Fire Academy’s facility located at 230 Ella T.

Grasso Boulevard. The city’s Training Division included certified fire instructors and provided support for both recruit training and ongoing firefighter education. The Connecticut Fire Academy’s guidelines for live-fire exercises required instructional conditions that meet the standards outlined in NFPA 1403.

For Ansonia firefighters, the training offered hands-on experience that helped prepare them for future emergency calls.

The department continues to use mutual aid as part of its regional emergency response and training efforts.
