Perth Amboy, NJ - The Perth Amboy Fire Department recently conducted an extensive monthly training evolution focused on the core mechanical and hydraulic skills required for rapid fire attack. Organized in close coordination with the Perth Amboy Professional Firefighters Association and the Perth Amboy Fire Officers Association, the drill challenged members to sharpen their operational efficiency across a range of apparatus-driven scenarios.

During the intensive training session held on September 9, crews deployed throughout Middlesex County to execute complex pump operator evolutions. Firefighters worked through rigorous scenarios involving the charging and management of multiple attack hoselines, fine-tuning friction loss calculations and engine pressure regulation to guarantee consistent fireground suppression power.

A major highlight of the day was mastering continuous water supply operations using the hydrant assist valve (HAV). Crews practiced seamless transitions from internal booster tanks to municipal water mains, maximizing flow volume while eliminating dangerous pressure drops during simulated high-demand incidents.
