Wyckoff, NJ - Firefighters from the Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department alongside regional mutual aid partners responded to an evening structure fire accompanied by a suspected explosion at a residential property on Patton Place.

Emergency personnel were alerted on the evening of Friday, October 2, 2026, following 911 calls reporting an active blaze and potential blast hazard within a single-family dwelling. First-due apparatus arrived on scene to encounter active fire and smoke conditions, immediately stretching hose lines to establish direct fire suppression operations and initiate primary interior searches.

Operating crews carried out coordinated suppression and systematic vertical and horizontal ventilation to release superheated trapped gases, alleviate internal pressure, and improve visibility for interior attack teams. The unified tactic contained the fire's forward progress and checked for potential structural compromise following the reported concussive blast.

The tactical response drew comprehensive support from across the township, engaging personnel and equipment from Wyckoff Protection Fire Company 1, Community Engine Company 2, and Sicomac Engine Company 3.

Regional coverage and fireground assistance were reinforced by Northwest Bergen Mutual Aid partners through Bergen County Battalion 4, ensuring continuous coverage across the township while crews brought the incident under control.
