Bedford Fire’s New Engine 2

September 1, 2026: The new Engine 2, a 2025 Rosenbauer Commander EXT rescue-pumper, has been put into service by the Bedford Fire Department.
The new device has a 1,500 GPM water pump, a 1,000-gallon water tank, and a Foam-Pro foam system. Additionally, it is set up for advanced life support medical response and rescue-pumper operations.
In the event of a fire or rescue, Engine 2 will be the first-due engine. Additionally, it will act as an ALS engine in higher-acuity medical crises, delivering cutting-edge life support capabilities right to the site.
Tuesday morning, Bedford Firefighters formally greeted the equipment with a customary push-in ceremony. Department members were joined at the ceremony by Town Council Chair Phil Greazzo and Town Manager Rick Sawyer. The new engine replaces Bedford's older Engine 2, which the town had identified for replacement because of its age and rising maintenance costs. Town records show the replacement was approved as part of the department's capital planning process.
