ASHLAND, MA — August 19, 2026 — Ashland Fire Department personnel trained and were acquainted with the nearby Amrize asphalt plant during a portion of their shift on Wednesday.

During the training, firefighters FF Baltz, FF McBride, FF Carlson, and FF Hays learned more about the facility and how it operates.

Before an issue arises, firefighters can learn about nearby commercial and industrial sites through facility familiarization. Crews can better grasp the difficulties they might encounter during an incident if they are aware of the layout, access locations, and working environment.

The Amrize facility in Ashland is situated at 71 Spring St. Although current industry documents refer to the location as the Amrize Ashland Batch Plant, Massachusetts classifies the Ashland facility as an authorized hot-mix asphalt producing plant.
