KEENE, NH — September 4, 2026 —  The Professional Firefighters of Keene IAFF Local 3265 reports that the Keene Fire Department has elevated Captain Robert Rogowski to Deputy Chief and Deputy Chief Gregory Seymour to Fire Chief.

On September 1, Seymour formally took over as Keene's fire chief, replacing Chief Jason Martin. After a competitive procedure, the City of Keene announced his selection in August.

After beginning his career with the Keene Fire Department in 2014 as a firefighter/paramedic, Seymour rose through the ranks to become a lieutenant/training officer, lieutenant/operations, captain/shift commander, acting deputy fire chief, and deputy fire chief of operations. According to the city, his prior duties included staffing, personnel development, emergency response monitoring, operational readiness, and policy execution. Rogowski moves into the Deputy Chief position after serving as the department's Training Officer. According to the supplied Local 3265 announcement, he has been involved in the development, education and preparation of department members. The announcement also notes his leadership experience with the United States Army and previous service as Fire Chief in Barre, Massachusetts.

The City of Keene's website lists Rogowski as the department's Training Officer and Seymour as Deputy Fire Chief in its current staff information.

Both Seymour and Rogowski have been active members of IAFF Local 3265, according to the union's announcement. The union said it looks forward to working with the department's new leadership while maintaining communication with members and supporting the continued development of the department.
