AMHERST, NY — September 1 — North Amherst Fire Company conducted a driver/operator training session on September 1, 2026, during which two members successfully completed the necessary training for Engines 1 and 2.
Firefighters Busch and Puleo finished their driver training after completing the company’s task-book requirements for new driver/operators. The training covered multiple aspects of apparatus operation, including basic driving time, pump panel basics, knowledge of apparatus equipment and its operation, and several final drills.
The training gave members hands-on experience driving the apparatus and working at the pump panel, while also reinforcing the responsibilities of operating emergency vehicles. Driver/operator training remained a key component of fireground preparedness, as it was essential for members to understand both vehicle operation and the equipment on their assigned units.
