ROME, NY — August 17, 2026 — Participating in a "Back to Basics" fire school exercise, members of the Lake Delta Volunteer Fire Department learned important fireground techniques.

Firefighters practiced installing 5-inch large-diameter hose (LDH) from the hydrant to the equipment and fastening hydrants throughout the training. Additionally, members practiced hurling ladders.

The agency stressed that during emergency operations, these basic abilities must be executed effectively and swiftly. Frequent practical training keeps firefighters up to date on equipment and fundamental fireground duties.

The Lake Delta Fire Department acknowledged the members' efforts throughout the training and thanked everyone who attended the simulation.
