HAMBURG, NY — August 1 — Members of the Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Company participated in training sessions centered on ventilation, fire attack, and search operations around August 1.

On Saturday, firefighters from Lake Shore and the Lake View Fire District trained on a roof ventilation trailer provided by the Erie County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.

The session emphasized saw operation and techniques used during roof ventilation.

Firefighters also completed smokehouse training, engaging in controlled scenarios.

Crews practiced advancing and operating hose lines while also refining their search and rescue skills.

The training involved hands-on practice with tasks commonly encountered during structure fires, including ventilation, hose advancement, and search operations.

Lake Shore operates from 4591 Lake Shore Road in Hamburg and is recognized by Erie County as a volunteer fire company.New York State records classify Lake Shore as a certified ambulance service.

Drills allow firefighters to maintain their proficiency with equipment, tactics, and teamwork prior to real emergency situations.
