FARNHAM, NY — August 18 — Two members of the Village of Farnham Fire Department were honored for their 50 years of service during an awards ceremony on August 18.

Jim Russell and James George received 50-year service awards from the Southwestern Association of Volunteer Firemen (SWAVF).

This organization supports volunteer fire companies and their members in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, and Erie counties.It also promotes fire prevention, firefighting efforts, emergency relief, and the well-being of volunteer firefighters.

This recognition celebrated five decades of dedication from Russell and George, underscoring the significant commitment needed to sustain volunteer emergency services.

The Village of Farnham Volunteer Fire Department was located at 526 Commercial Street in Farnham.

Erie County listed the department at that address, and town records also noted that the Farnham department provided fire protection and emergency services in the local area.
