EAST AMHERST, N.Y. — August 25 — Members of the East Amherst Fire Department participated in joint training with the Ellicott Creek Volunteer Fire Company. The session focused on two key areas: hose line advancement and search techniques.

This training allowed firefighters from both departments to collaborate on fireground tasks that demand effective communication, teamwork, and understanding of equipment.

During the hose line advancement exercise, crews practiced moving a charged hose into a building while keeping control of the line and working together as a unit.

The search training also provided an opportunity for firefighters to review procedures for finding potential victims during interior operations.

In fire service training, it is common to combine hose advancement with primary search exercises. This helps crews practice these critical operations in a controlled environment.

Both departments are volunteer organizations that serve the Amherst area.

The Town of Amherst provided addresses for both departments: East Amherst Fire Department is located at 9100 Transit Road, East Amherst, NY 14051, and Ellicott Creek Fire Company is at 45 South Ellicott Creek Road.
