BOSTON, N.Y. — August 27 — Junior firefighters from the Boston Volunteer Fire Company participated in a practical drafting drill as part of their ongoing training in fundamental fireground operations.The fire department is based at 6746 Mill Street, Boston, NY 14025, and provides services to southern Boston.

The training involved practicing the process of drawing water from a static source and transporting it through fire equipment for use in firefighting.

Drafting is a crucial skill for supplying water when a hydrant or other pressurized water source is unavailable.Fire service guidelines recognize ponds, streams, and other bodies of water as potential static sources for such operations.

The junior firefighter program allowed members to handle equipment and practice standard procedures in a controlled environment.
