BOSTON, N.Y. — August 1 — Members of the Boston Volunteer Fire Company participated in Basic Exterior Firefighter Operations training as part of their ongoing efforts to prepare for emergency situations.

The training was designed to build the essential skills required for firefighters working in an exterior role.

During the session, members focused on improving their understanding of department equipment, enhancing their knowledge, and developing the abilities necessary to work safely as part of a fireground team.

For volunteer firefighters, consistent training is essential to maintaining their readiness.

The Town of Boston recognizes the Boston Volunteer Fire Company as the department responsible for serving southern Boston, with its fire station located at 6746 Mill Street at Boston State Road.

The Basic Exterior Firefighter Operations level provides firefighters with the fundamental skills needed to support fireground operations while staying within the scope of their training.

Similar programs in New York have also used BEFO training to prepare firefighters for exterior firefighting tasks.
