Tankers Took the Road During a Multi-County Water Drill

MIDDLEPORT, NY — August 29 — Firefighters took part in a multi-county tanker drill in Middleport, focusing on rural water supply efforts and how different agencies work together.
Barker Fire Department Inc.
was the first to respond during the exercise.The drill allowed firefighters to practice transporting water using tankers, which is essential when hydrants are not available or cannot supply enough water for a fire.
The activity gave crews a chance to focus on moving water by tanker, transferring water, and improving communication and cooperation between different departments.
Efficient water movement depends on teams at the water source, tanker operators, and those managing the receiving end.
