FRANKFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ — July 31, 2026 — Jim Swistack, a trustee and member of the Frankford Township Fire Department, is being honored as he starts his retirement after working at McGuire Chevrolet for more than 40 years.

As the service manager of the dealership, Swistack formally resigned on Friday. In published industry coverage, such as a 2012 article on the dealership's management and a 2018 case study of its service operation, McGuire Chevrolet Cadillac had previously named Swistack as its service manager.

Swistack's accomplishments both inside and outside the firehouse were highlighted by the fire department at the event.

Swistack joined the Frankford Township Fire Department in 2015 alongside his son, current Lieutenant 2 Brad Swistack, according to the department's July 31 member feature.

Within the department, Swistack serves as a Fire Police member and trustee. Those positions often involve responsibilities that take place away from the center of an emergency response, including traffic control, scene safety, department business and supporting fundraising and other company activities.

Fire Police members can play an important role during incidents by helping protect emergency scenes and maintain safe working areas for firefighters, EMS personnel and the public.

The department also described Swistack's work behind the scenes as a key part of keeping the organization running. While not every assignment involves an apparatus leaving the station, administrative and support work remains necessary to maintain a functioning volunteer fire company. The Swistack family has a close relationship with the fire department in Frankford Township. According to the department, Jim's daughter Devan served in the Auxiliary in the past, and Jim's wife Amy is an Auxiliary member.

The department's playful acknowledgment also included Swistack's moniker, "The Fun Sucker." Members emphasized his eagerness to assist others and support the department while also characterizing him as having a dry and occasionally unpleasant disposition.
