POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — July 31 — Firefighters from Ocean Fire Company No.1 in Point Pleasant Beach participated in hands-on firefighter rescue training at an acquired structure alongside members of Brielle Fire Company No.1.

This joint training session brought together personnel from the two volunteer fire companies to take part in several rescue exercises, with a focus on FAST and RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) procedures.

Ocean Fire Company No.1 is based at 400 Arnold Ave.in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey.State records confirm the company is an official volunteer fire department operating from that address.

During the session, firefighters rotated through different training stations.

These exercises included packaging a firefighter on a RIT board, conducting VEIS (Vent-Enter-Isolate-Search) operations, and rescuing a downed firefighter through a floor opening.

The training was intended to provide firefighters with practical experience in conducting rescue operations.

Conducting these exercises in an acquired structure allowed members to practice movement and rescue techniques in a controlled setting while using their protective gear and breathing apparatus.

One of the training scenarios involved packaging a firefighter who had fallen on a RIT board.

The exercise required the team to work together to secure and prepare the simulated victim for removal.

Another station focused on VEIS, which is a method used during structure fires to allow firefighters to quickly enter a specific area, search for potential occupants, and control the space being searched.

Firefighters also practiced removing a downed firefighter through a floor opening.

This exercise required crews to coordinate the rescue operation while navigating around the restricted opening and building layout.
