MONMOUTH JUNCTION, NJ — July 30, 2026 — On Thursday nite, Monmouth Junction Volunteer Fire Department members practiced saw operations and ventilation practices in a hands-on training exercise.

Before beginning roof-ventilation operations, firefighters rehearsed cutting entrances using a K-12 saw. Members practiced opening a roof during a structural fire using a roof ladder, chainsaw, and New York hook.

The training focused on coordination, tool handling, and safe movement on and around a roof while providing firemen with the chance to interact with the tools used during ventilation and forced-entry operations.

The Monmouth Junction Volunteer Fire Department regularly conducts hands-on drills. A previous department drill included hose deployment and fire-attack operations using Engine 206, while the department's current Tower 201 was placed in service in May 2025 after members completed extensive driver/operator training.

Monmouth Junction is a volunteer department serving South Brunswick Township. New Jersey Division of Fire Safety records list the department with 35 volunteer firefighters and one career firefighter. The department operates from Station 20 on Ridge Road in Monmouth Junction and Station 21 on Georges Road in Dayton.
