LAURENCE HARBOR, NJ — August 17, 2026 — In order to sustain staffing and offer emergency service to the community, the Laurence Harbor Fire Department, which is entirely volunteer-run, is seeking additional volunteers.

No prior firefighting experience is necessary, and the department is urging locals to think about becoming firefighters. In addition to department-provided equipment and clothing, new members undergo training.

According to the department's most recent volunteer information, candidates must pass a background and physical examination and be at least eighteen years old. The department offers free firefighting gear and equipment, and members can obtain training through the Middlesex County Fire Academy.
