BEACH HAVEN, NJ — Aug. 7 — It was a beautiful morning on the bay, but for the members of Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Company No.1, the scenery didn’t change the purpose: it was still an ideal time for training.

The members spent the morning carrying out training exercises along the bay, using the waterfront as a setting to enhance their skills and keep their response capabilities sharp.

For emergency responders, training in an environment where they might actually be called upon to work offers meaningful experience.

Responses at the waterfront can involve different challenges than those on land, making it especially important to be familiar with equipment, access routes, communication systems, and team coordination.

Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Company No.

1 has a long history of serving the community.The company was formed in 1883 and claims to be the oldest volunteer fire company in Ocean County.Its current responsibilities include fire and rescue services, and it specifically responds to water-related incidents.

The Borough of Beach Haven also officially recognizes Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Company No.

1 as the borough’s fire-fighting organization.Municipal rules require active members to take part in fires and drills, highlighting the importance of regular training in keeping the team prepared for real emergencies.

The company has also run boating-safety programs at its fire station, creating another link between the fire service and the local waterfront community.

Ocean County Tourism has included boating-safety examinations at the Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Company location.
