Water Rescue Drill on Maurice River Strengthens Multi-Agency Coordination

Downe, NJ - On August 17 in Cumberland County, the Downe Township Fire/Rescue and Dive Team participated in a coordinated water rescue training exercise on the Maurice River in Port Norris.


During the drill, crews focused on essential water rescue skills, including throw bag deployment, boat operations, and victim removal techniques from the water into rescue vessels. The hands-on training provided members with valuable experience in operating under realistic conditions and refining critical lifesaving procedures.


The exercise was conducted alongside mutual aid partners, including Port Norris Fire Company, Mauricetown Fire Company, and Leesburg Fire Company, allowing for seamless coordination and teamwork among responding agencies.
