Wayne, NJ — August 4 — Wayne Fire Company No.4 honored John "JB" Babitz on August 4 for his 60 years of dedicated volunteer service to the fire company and Wayne Township.


Babitz began his service with Preakness Volunteer Fire Company No.

4 in 1966 and took on various leadership roles throughout his career.He served as company chief for three years and also worked as the Wayne Township fire commissioner.His long and active involvement with the company, along with his efforts in mentoring other firefighters, was well-documented in both current and historical records.


Preakness Volunteer Fire Company No.

4 was established in 1924 and has been one of the five volunteer fire companies in Wayne Township.


Babitz's 60-year commitment symbolized years of valuable experience, leadership, and service that connected multiple generations of Wayne firefighters.
