Salem, NJ— August 11 — Salem Fire & Rescue honored Chief Daniel Newcomb on August 11 as he celebrated his birthday.

Newcomb has been serving as the chief of the Salem Fire Department since 2021.

Local reports highlighted that he comes from a family with a long involvement in the fire service and began his career as a junior firefighter at the age of 12.He also held the position of emergency management director for Livingston County.

Throughout his career, Newcomb has been involved in various community service efforts beyond regular fire calls.

In 2017, he joined Salem firefighters to assist in rescuing a dog that was stuck in a tree, as reported by Kentucky State Police and local news outlets.

The birthday celebration allowed Salem Fire & Rescue personnel to show their appreciation for their chief and his ongoing dedication to the department and the community.
