Pennsville, NJ — August 19 — Pennsville Fire & Rescue Company No.1 carried out a practical vehicle extrication training session in Pennsville, New Jersey, on August 19.Members from the department, along with firefighters from Auburn Fire Company, participated in the exercise.

During the training, firefighters worked on stabilizing an overturned vehicle and practicing the removal of vehicle doors.

This drill allowed the crews to gain experience with stabilization and access procedures in a controlled environment, preparing them for real-world crash situations.

Pennsville's written rescue guidelines highlight the importance of stabilizing a vehicle before attempting entry or extraction.

The guidelines also outline patient access, assessment, disentanglement, and removal as essential components of an extrication operation.Auburn Fire & Rescue has also included motor vehicle extrication in its list of rescue capabilities and noted that its members have trained using battery-powered rescue tools.

As part of the training, Station 5 and 6-3 were also called to a reported gas leak within Pennsville.

However, there was no mention of any mutual-aid departments being involved in that incident.

The training continued to offer the crews valuable hands-on experience while ensuring they remain prepared for emergency calls in the area.
