Monaca, PA. — July 24 — Monaca Fire used Ladder 56 to demonstrate rope rescue as part of the Monaca Boro Backpack Event. Residents were shown the tools and techniques used in technical rescue operations during the exercise. Councilmen Billy Mitchell of the Fifth Ward and Derek Wilson of the Third Ward took part by rappelling from the ladder while wearing rescue harnesses.

The staff was able to interact with neighbors and discuss specialist rescue work throughout the occasion. Thru neighborhood gatherings, Monaca Fire continued to promote firefighter training and public education. Wilson and Mitchell were named by the boro as current council members.
