Conway, PA. — July 27 — Four firemen from the Conway Volunteer Fire Department obtained their Firefighter I certificates after completing more than 350 hours of training over the course of six months. Joshua White, Shawn Butters, Timothy Snyder, and Clayton Gavulich finished their coursework, practical skills training, and assessments. While the participants retained their departmental responsibilities, the program required them to work on the weekends and in the evenings.

Fire suppression, rescue techniques, firefighter safety, and other fundamental emergency response skills were taught during Firefighter I training. Their completion improved the department's capacity to staff emergency responses by adding four trained firefighters to its operating roster. The members' completion of the rigorous certification program was acknowledged by the department.
