On July 9, Thomaston Fire & EMS provided the Cushing Fire Department with a flagpole detail using its ladder vehicle. In addition to helping a nearby department, the job gave Thomaston personnel a chance to practice operating ladder trucks.

Firefighters were able to practice basic apparatus operations and gain more familiarity with the ladder truck by using the response as a training opportunity. Regular hands-on practice helps firefighters retain skill with specialized equipment, according to department officials.

Additionally, Thomaston Fire & EMS urged locals to attend the Cushing Fire Department's yearly Pig Roast, which is set for this Saturday at 4 p.m.
