Waitsfield, VT. — August 5 — An SCBA dodgeball exercise was used in a joint training session between the Moretown Fire Department and the Waitsfield-Fayston Fire Department, located at 4103 Main St., to improve air management abilities. During high-activity training intended to promote physical exertion and reinforce controlled breathing, firefighters wore self-contained breathing apparatus.
Members were able to monitor air consumption, increase their endurance, and gain confidence when using SCBA in practical situations thanks to the training. Frequent air management training helps teams extend their working hours during fireground operations, which is a crucial component of firefighter safety. Additionally, the exercise improved the adjacent departments' operational readiness, cooperation, and teamwork.
