Cabot, VT. — July 22 — Before firefighters held a practical training session centered on rural water supply operations, the Cabot, Vermont Volunteer Fire Department welcomed Micki as its newest junior member. In addition to reviewing methods for swiftly setting up tanker refill sites during major structure fires, crews practiced drafting water from a static source. The exercise reaffirmed how crucial it is to keep dependable water supplies in places without municipal hydrants.
Fire suppression is supported throughout the rural response area of the city by Cabot's network of dry hydrants connected to nearby ponds. Firefighters were better equipped to handle situations needing continuous water delivery thanks to the training.
