Amherst Fire and EMS Joins Scouts for Rescue Drill

On a June weekend, Amherst Fire and EMS participated in a wilderness rescue training exercise at the Joe English Reserve with Amherst Scout Troop 22 and Merrimack Scout Troop 15.
As part of the exercise, the Scouts mimicked a 9-1-1 call, rehearsed triage, and administered basic first aid to a "injured hiker." Before the Scouts finished the simulated patient carryout along the route, Amherst Fire and EMS supported the exercise by sending out Engine 1 to execute a low-angle rescue.
