Hampton Fire/Rescue Responded to E-Bike Fire on Lafayette Road

Hampton, NH — September 10 — Hampton Fire/Rescue responded to a reported e-bike fire outside the CVS pharmacy on Lafayette Road on September 10. When firefighters arrived, they found the electric bicycle burning near the building. Crews deployed a hose line and worked to put out the fire. The fire was controlled, and firefighters stayed at the scene until the incident was fully resolved. The last units left the area more than an hour after the initial call.
No injuries were reported.
The incident involved an electric bicycle, which uses a rechargeable battery system.
Hampton Fire/Rescue has previously shared information about lithium and lithium-ion batteries, highlighting that these batteries can be a fire hazard if they become overheated, damaged, or defective. The department also recommends that lithium batteries should not be disposed of in regular household trash or recycling bins.
Hampton Fire/Rescue operates from two stations and offers services such as fire suppression, emergency medical care, hazardous materials response, technical rescue, and water rescue.
The department maintains continuous staffing for emergency response.
The Fire Prevention Bureau of the department investigates fires to identify their causes and origins and provides fire safety education to the community.
