On July 4, the Quakertown Fire Company responded to multiple emergency situations throughout its service area while advising locals to exercise caution when celebrating the holiday.
The public was advised by department officials to consider all downed utility wires as electrified, use portable generators at a safe distance from homes, avoid needless travel to ensure the safety of utility workers and emergency personnel, and use fireworks sensibly to lower the chance of fires.
