Mutual Aid Crews Assisted at Prospect Park Fluid Spill

PROSPECT PARK, NJ — September 1 — The Prospect Park Volunteer Fire Department responded at 9:38 a.m.to a report of a fluid spill on the roadway near North 11th Street and Struyk Avenue. The fire chief arrived at the scene and discovered a large oil spill, which needed containment and traffic control measures.
Fire units 702 and 703 were on site working alongside the Hawthorne and Haledon fire departments.
Prospect Park Police helped manage traffic while the crews worked to contain the spill and minimize hazards on the road. Passaic County Hazmat and the Board of Health also arrived to assist with the situation.
Speedy Dry was used on the affected area to absorb the spilled material and aid in cleaning the roadway.
The response highlighted the importance of teamwork among local fire departments, law enforcement, county resources, and municipal agencies.
The Prospect Park Volunteer Fire Department serves the borough as a volunteer organization and also offers assistance to nearby communities when needed.
