Jericho, N.Y. — July 11 — The Melville Volunteer Fire Department and Strategic Safety Dynamics took part in a practical extrication training program with the Jericho Fire Department, located at 411 North Broadway. Firefighters improved their capacity to safely remove people under difficult circumstances by practicing rescue tactics using heavy machinery, big trees, and other complex entrapment scenarios.

Scene safety, patient access, tool selection, and coordinated cooperation were the main topics of the training. Collaborative training with nearby departments and knowledgeable instructors improved operational preparedness, developed partnerships for mutual aid, and made sure members were always ready to handle a variety of technical rescue situations in the local towns.
