Danbury, CT - The City of Danbury Fire Department continues to strengthen its technical rescue capabilities as 16 members undergo Rope Rescue Technician training, a critical step in preparing for complex emergency situations.

The program combines intensive classroom instruction with hands-on practical evolutions, focusing on the skills and knowledge required to operate safely and effectively at high-risk incidents such as confined space rescues, high-angle operations, and difficult terrain scenarios.

Through this structured training, participants are developing proficiency in rope systems, patient packaging, and coordinated team operations.

In a significant advancement for the department, this training is being delivered in-house for the first time by department instructors.

This approach allows the curriculum to be tailored specifically to local risks, operational demands, and the equipment used in the field, ensuring a more relevant and effective learning experience.

By investing in specialized training and internal instruction, the department continues to enhance readiness, build expertise, and ensure its members are prepared to respond to some of the most challenging rescue environments.
