Shelton, CT - The Shelton Fire Department’s Firefighter I students continue to strengthen their operational readiness through comprehensive, hands-on training focused on portable ground ladders—one of the most essential tools in the fire service.
During the session, students practiced a wide range of ladder operations, including proper techniques for raising, carrying, and placing ground ladders safely and efficiently.
Emphasis was placed on coordination, balance, and situational awareness to ensure ladders can be deployed quickly under real emergency conditions.
In addition to ladder handling, members conducted both conscious and unconscious victim removal scenarios.
These evolutions challenged students to apply rescue techniques while working at heights and under simulated emergency pressures, reinforcing the importance of teamwork, communication, and precision.
