Avon, CT - The Avon Volunteer Fire Department Explorers program continues to build the next generation of emergency responders through hands-on, practical training.


In a recent session, participants focused on the fundamentals of fire extinguisher use—an essential skill in early fire intervention.


Explorers were introduced to proper handling techniques, key safety principles, and the importance of making quick, informed decisions in high-pressure situations.


These foundational lessons are designed to instill confidence and readiness, equipping them with the knowledge needed to respond effectively during emergencies.


Beyond technical skills, the program emphasizes leadership development, teamwork, and real-world insight into fire, EMS, and public safety careers.


By engaging in realistic training scenarios, young participants gain valuable experience that prepares them for future service in their communities.
