Colesville, NJ — April 9th — In honor of life member Ed Van der Berg, who served for more than 40 years before to his death in 2019, Colesville Fire Company put a brand-new brush truck into operation. It was built on a 2019 Ram chassis. To finish the project, pre-existing brush equipment from an earlier unit was moved. On Mudtown Road, the vehicle responded to its first brush fire.
Approximately one acre of swamp was burning when units arrived, and it eventually spread to an estimated three to four acres before being contained. With assistance from forestry resources and mutual help, crews worked for several hours. 62-2, 62 Brush, 62 UTV, 62 Squad, 62 Tanker, 64 Engine, 63 EMS, and New Jersey Forest Fire Service assets were among the units.
