Mutual Aid Crews Assisted at Berkeley Heights Structure Fire

Berkeley Heights, N.J. — June 10 — Using the township's automatic aid system, the Berkeley Heights Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire on Maple Avenue with help from the Warren Fire Department and the New Providence Volunteer Fire Department. Within seven minutes, firefighters arrived and discovered a large fire on the home's second level. The fire was swiftly contained by crews who started suppression efforts.


All residents had successfully fled before firefighters arrived, despite early indications suggesting that inhabitants would be trapped. The residents were forced to leave the house due to severe fire, smoke, and water damage. Union County EMS, Scotch Plains firefighters, Berkeley Heights Volunteer Rescue Squad, and Summit Fire Department all contributed extra assistance.
