This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

As part of a fire safety unit, a first-grade class from Tisbury School visited the Tisbury Fire Department on April 14.

Students gained knowledge on emergency preparedness, including how to safely leave a building, the distinctions between common tools and those used by firemen, and the equipment carried on apparatus.

Firefighters offered a tour of the apparatus bay, taught how to put on protective gear, and displayed tools on engines 621 and 622. Additionally, students had the chance to operate a hose line under supervision.
