Patchogue Assists with Medical Helicopter Landing

PATCHOGUE, NY — April 6th — During a medical transport helicopter landing, the Patchogue Fire Department helped Patchogue Ambulance and Suffolk County Police.


In order to provide a safe location for the aircraft to land and operate, fire department personnel responded to protect the landing zone. For fire departments, landing zone operations are a standard task that calls for cooperation with law enforcement, scene management, and contact with aircraft crews.


After landing, the helicopter crew assumed responsibility for the patient's care and took them to a local hospital for more care.
