Seneca Falls Fire and Police Secure Fluid Leaks and Downed Hazards in Auburn Road MVA

Seneca Falls, NY - A single-vehicle collision involving a commercial box truck snapped a utility pole and prompted a brief roadway shutdown along Auburn Road on Tuesday afternoon in central Seneca County.

At approximately 4:01 p.m. on September 1, the Seneca County Communications Center dispatched the Seneca Falls Volunteer Fire Department, the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department, and North Seneca Ambulance to Auburn Road near Ace Automatics following reports of a motor vehicle accident.

District Chief Farnsworth (1461) was the first to arrive on scene, establishing command and reporting a commercial box truck had struck and partially snapped a roadside utility pole. The vehicle's sole occupant had exited the cabin and was sitting on the roadside grass uninjured; emergency medical technicians from North Seneca Ambulance evaluated the driver on scene, resulting in a patient sign-off with no hospital transport required.

Responding fire crews aboard Engine 1, Rescue 52, and command vehicles 1462, 1464, and 1465 immediately secured the compromised truck, isolating its battery system to eliminate electrical ignition risks and laying down absorbent materials to contain leaking automotive fluids.

Auburn Road was closed to all traffic for a short period to protect operating emergency personnel and coordinate initial scene mitigation. All responding units cleared the area and were returned to service within 45 minutes of the initial dispatch.
